Liturgy and Worship CommitteeMissionThis gathering of parishioners and clergy strives to make the Eucharistic celebration the center of the Catholic, faith community’s unique encounter with the Risen Lord. Primarily, at weekend worship, the community truly becomes “church” and all its activities and ministries find their meaning and sustenance in the celebration of the Paschal Mystery. Various special liturgical and para-liturgical worships are fashioned by the committee. The committee develops liturgies for children at 9:30 AM Mass on Sunday; remembrance Mass for deceased members in August; parish feast celebration; Communal anointing of the sick; Lenten devotions to name a few. It is the challenge of the committee to interact with all parish ministries and organizations so to celebrate “around the altar” the richness of the virtuous works each group offers to the faith community.
Eucharistic Ministry Mission<Pope Paul VI authorized special ministers of Communion to share the body and blood of Christ with their fellow worshippers in the assembly and with those confined to their homes. Ministers of the Eucharist are designated religious and lay individuals who help with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass, at other special liturgies, and to parishioners unable to attend Mass. A preparation program is required for those who are to be commissioned as Eucharistic ministers. Serving in this ministry results in several benefits: a deepening of faith, a realization of Christ’s great love for us through the Eucharist; and a better understanding of the power of prayer. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister, please contact the parish priest. Ushers Ministry MissionUshers are the ministers of hospitality of the Parish. They greet people on their entry into Church, distribute Church bulletins, and answer questions from parishioners about upcoming Church events. Ushers assist parishioners to locating seats, collect the weekly offerings at every Mass, and help people with special needs. We are always looking for new ushers. If you are interested in becoming an Usher, please call the rectory or Chairperson: Ben DiCenzo 393-2077.
