Easter Food Baskets
The Social Action Committee will provide food baskets for needy families in our communities and the Greater New Haven area during the Easter season. Again our goal this year is to provide 200+ baskets. Parishioners are encouraged to donate non-perishable food (pasta, canned fruit, jelly/jam, peanut butter, cereal, potatoes, beans, rice, macaroni and cheese, soup, spaghetti sauce, tuna fish, vegetables, apple juice, beef stew, canned meat, etc.). Items should be left in the rear of the church.
To assist the committee, we would like to invite each of the Catechism classes to make contributions of non-perishable food as follows: K-2 grades - canned fruit; 3-4th grades - peanut butter; 5-6th grades - spaghetti sauce; 7-8th grades - jelly/jam. Donations should be left in the kitchen area by Thursday, March 25.
Checks, payable to the "Social Action Committee", are also appreciated and will help purchase canned hams and additional food products. If you would like to suggest a needy family to receive a basket, please call Nanci (393-9209). All family names will be kept strictly confidential.
Volunteers are needed (a) Thursday, March 25 at 9:00a.m. – Sort & count food; (b) Palm Sunday, March 28 following the 11:30a.m. Mass - Assemble & distribute the baskets in the Rev. John A. Horgan Parish Center. We will start around 12:15 p.m. If you have any questions, please call Jill or Bob (393-0787).

Time, Talent & Treasure
Stewardship is a way of life within the faith community. It is not a program, but a process which educates the parish membership to share with each other their “time, talent and treasure.” Periodically, a Stewardship Fair is conducted to help familiarize parishioner with the various programs, organizations, activities and ministries. It encourages greater participation in all aspects of parish life. Through the “Heavenly Herald” which is published quarterly and the “Parish Directory” prayerful consideration is asked of parishioners to define their special gifts and return those gifts to God through Christ-like service within the community.
Marriage Encounter
Love is patient, love is kind
It does not envy, it does not
boast, it is not proud
It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking
It is not easily angered, it keeps
no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil, but
rejoices with the truth
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres
Love never fails
I Corinthians 13:4-8
Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It's a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It's a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other.
The emphasis of the Marriage Encounter weekend is on communication between husbands and wives. The weekend provides an environment for couples to spend time together, away from the distractions and tensions of everyday life, while encouraging them to focus on each other and their relationship. It's not a retreat, marriage clinic, group sensitivity, or a substitute for counseling. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Marriage.
This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage deserves that kind of attention!
If you have questions or would like more information, please see the Worldwide Marriage Encounter web site, or contact Tony & Betty Fabrizio at 203-426-6799.
