Mission – Lectors publicly
proclaim the Word of the Lord during daily and
Sunday Mass and on special liturgical feasts.
Through them, God continues to feed His people
at the Table of the Word. They grow in knowledge
and love of the living God and publicly witness
their faith in response to their baptismal call.
In considering the commitment involved
in being a Lector, the following are some of the
requirements which should be considered: (1) a
practicing Catholic who has received the sacrament
of Confirmation, (2) posses a love and understanding
of the Scripture, (3) be eager to serve their
fellow Christians, (4) be willing to engage in
ongoing training, (5) have highly developed communication
skills, (6) speak audibly, clearly and articulately,
(7) have self-possession, confidence, maturity,
poise, and sensitivity, and (8) understand the
commitment involved. Training, preparations aids
and opportunities to pray together are offered
to strengthen them in the ministry. If you are
interested in becoming a Lector, please call the
rectory or Chairperson: Rosemarie DiRienzo 389-9698.
