Troop 63 was founded in 1963 to
bring scouting to boys in the Bethany, Orange,
and Woodbridge communities. Chartered by Our Lady
of the Assumption Church, Troop 63 quickly became
known as the "outdoor troop". Our outings
include all types of camping, hiking, backpacking,
skiing, canoe trips, and whitewater rafting as
well as cultural events such as visits to historical
parks, the Museum of Natural History, and the
United Nations. We also plan and participate in
community service projects each year. We follow
the BSA program of "fun with a purpose".
This year marks our 40th anniversary of helping
boys reach their full potential.
The Boy Scout program is open to
all boys ages 11 to 18. We meet September through
June on Monday nights 7:00 to 8:30PM at Our Lady
of the Assumption Church on Center Road in Woodbridge.
Stop by and see what we're all about. For information
call John Dwan 389-8886 or click here to visit the Troop website.

Congratulations
to three parishioners of OLA and Troop 63!
Christopher Dwan, Andre Zakoworotny and Joseph Walter, all
received their eagle scout at a ceremonial celebration at the Grassy Hill Lodge
on April 22, 2007. Father Gene Gianelli attended and said the opening prayer. He is smiling
in the left hand side of this picture. Also in this picture is Connecticut
State House Representative (R) Themis Klarides.

The Amity Service Unit has used
the parish hall for service unit type events such
as Sup n' Sing and Thinking Day. The Service Unit
is comprised of several individual troops from
Bethany, Orange and Woodbridge. The Girl Scouts
also recognize Girl Scout Sabbath and rotate this
program between the churches in these communities.
In 2001, it was celebrated in Our Lady of the
Assumption.
