Confirmation Service Opportunities

Below is a list of Service Opportunities that will be offered this year. We will have more opportunities as the year progresses. Please email oloareligiouseddirector@gmail.com with any questions.

Thanksgiving and Easter Food Baskets – The Social Action Committee (SAC) puts together over 200 Thanksgiving food baskets and 150 Easter food baskets for needy families in the surrounding area.  These baskets are filled with non-perishable items as well as a gift card for perishable items, like a Thanksgiving Turkey and Easter Ham. The Social Action Committee purchases additional food items as needed, as well as gift cards, to supplement the donations from the parish.

Angel Tree – The SAC receives requests for gifts for children in the surrounding areas. Each “Angel” on the Angel Tree has a list of needed items. Our parishioners choose an Angel to purchase Christmas gifts for. The SAC then matches up all gifts, adds gifts as needed, and gets huge bags of Christmas gifts ready for pick up!

Support for Soup Kitchen – We are resuming support, one night a month, for the Downtown Soup Kitchen and are in need of people to help prepare meals and serve them at the Downtown Soup Kitchen.

Bags for Homeless – In the past, the SAC has put together “Brian Bags” for distribution by parishioners. We would like to do this as a continuing effort – bags with bottles of water, socks, gift cards to Subway, power bars, etc. Parishioners can pick up after any Mass and give out as needed to those asking for help.

Garden – The parish garden has both fall and spring hours available for anyone who wishes to help with caring for the plants, harvesting, and other duties.
