MISSION

The Faith Formation Program at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish aims to create real encounters with Jesus Christ for both students and families. We offer programs for children in grades one through twelve. Our high school students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the tenth grade and are welcome to stay in our youth group once they have completed their Sacramental preparation and reception.

ACADEMIC CURRICULUM AND FOCUS

Grades 1-8:

Students will learn about their faith, hear the upcoming Sunday Gospel, do activities, and participate in discussions in class, all at age appropriate levels. Family Faith Challenges go home with the student each week where parents can continue faith formation at home.

Grade 3 Reconciliation:  Believe, Celebrate – We Prepare for Reconciliation

Grade 3 students focus on their preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Activities and learning are all directed toward these Sacraments. The first portion of the class focuses on Reconciliation.

Grade 3 Eucharist:  Believe, Celebrate – We Prepare for Eucharist

Students spend the second part of the school year preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This includes the classroom work as well as the Communion Retreat.

Grades 9&10:

Grades 9 and 10 participate in our two-year Confirmation Preparation Program, meeting on Sunday evenings in the parish hall to discuss the important and vital aspects of our faith. We are using a new program, PURPOSE, created by the nationally acclaimed youth ministry organization, Life Teen.
