Ideas for the Family

Eucharistic Adoration: An Invitation

The best way to get closer to Christ is by spending time with Him! How can we have a friendship or relationship with anyone if we do not spend time with them? Jesus gives us a great gift by being fully present to us in the Holy Eucharist. Did you know that Our Lady of the Assumption Church has Eucharistic Adoration EVERY Monday following the 9am Mass? Come and see what it means to truly encounter Christ.

The Rosary

The Rosary is a beautiful prayer given to us by Our Blessed Mother, who asked us to pray it daily when she appeared to the children at Fatima. Click here to learn how to pray this beautiful prayer: https://rosarycenter.org/how-to-pray-the-rosary

As Catholics, we believe in the powerful intercession of Mary to Jesus. She brings our prayers to Him in a more perfect way than we ever could. We do not believe Mary to be God, we simply ask for her help to bring us closer to Jesus.

Reach out to learn more about the Children's Rosary and the Consecration to Jesus through Our Blessed Mother. If you do not have Rosary beads and would like some, stop by the office! We have plenty just waiting to be prayed with :) Make sure your Rosary beads are blessed. Ask Fr. Ford to bless them if you have not already! And remember, a family that prays together stays together.

The Chosen

What's that you say? All your family does is watch TV??

Turn TV time into a time for growing together in faith. The Chosen is a popular show, by Angel Studios, that takes us back to Jesus' time and gives a glimpse of what parts of His life might have been like, as well as what some of the Saints may have been like. With 16 episodes and a few special releases, your family will have a beautiful time together reflecting on Jesus and His Gospel.

Click any of these images to learn more about how you can watch The Chosen today!

Fr. Ford will give a free sweatshirt to any student who watches every episode!

Vocations

According to the Sisters of Life, "Vocation means "call." It is how you were created to love and be loved. It is an invitation received, and God initiates. We cannot earn or create it. He speaks it into the depths of our heart, and in freedom, I respond in trust and generosity, knowing it is for my joy."

We all, as Catholics, are called to the vocation of Life in the Holy Spirit, which the Catechism of the Catholic Church describes as "life...made up of divine charity and human solidarity....graciously offered as salvation" (CCC 1699). We live this out by frequenting the Sacraments, praying daily, and always recognizing human dignity through acts of charity and service to others. However, each of us is also called by God to a particular way to live out this call through a specific vocation to the priesthood, religious life, consecrated single life, or holy married life. Discernment helps us to think and pray about where God might be calling us. Check out our Vocations bulletin board for some discernment tools, as well as these resources to learn more about different vocations and where God might be calling you to become more fully the man or woman He has made you to be:
